EUROPEADA 2022 in Koroška/Carinthia: A great success for the Slovenian minority

No less than 9 Slavic men's and 1 women's team took part in the Europeada 2022 in Koroška. The semi-final in Sele Šajda / Zell-Schaida between Team Koroška and Serbske Mustwo in front of more than 1,000 fans was legendary! Team Koroška/Carinthia women's team wins EUROPEADA 2022 and men take second place. Great successes! Congratulations čestitke!

The anticipation could not have been greater: "We can hardly believe that it is really starting now," said Marco Loibnegger, head of the local organising committee of the Europeada in Carinthia/Koroška, when he took the microphone this afternoon at the official opening of the European Football Championship of the autochthonous national minorities. In fantastic weather, representatives from politics and the media as well as the team leaders met in St. Kanzian/Skocjan directly on the shore of Lake Klopeiner See before the big opening ceremony with all teams followed in the evening.

With EUROPEADA 2022, another major FUEN event was hosted by a Slavic minority. The Carinthian Slovenes were excellent hosts, and Koroška / Carinthia a beautiful place for the sporting and cultural exchange. The Slavic ethnic groups and minorities were also most strongly represented at the tournament, with no less than 9 men's and one women's team: Carinthian Slovenes, Lusatian Sorbs, Pomaks, Slovaks from Hungary, Burgenland Croats, Slovenes from Italy, Serbs from Croatia and Croats from Serbia, as well as Slovaks and Czechs from Romania were present. The Slavic semi-final between Team Koroška/Carinthia and Serbske Mustwo in front of more than 1,000 spectators in Sele/Zell was also "historic". The AGSM would like to congratulate all teams for their sporting and cultural achievements!
