Judith Scholze or Judit Šolćina? Do Sorbian women soon have the right to use their female names?

Until now, the official name of Domowina's managing director has been Judith Scholze. In the future she should also bear her Sorbian surname - in the female form Judit Šolćina.

A planned reform by the German Federal Minister of Justice Buschmann gives Sorbs the hope that they could use the feminine form of their name in the future. Read more in the article from Sächsischen.de.

In Sorbian, the surname of husband and wife differ. This is not provided for in German law. But that should change now.
