In the Hungarian parliamentary elections on 12 April, Liliána Grexa was re-elected as spokesperson of the Ukrainian nationality in the Hungarian National Assembly, the Parliament of Hungary. She has since taken up her mandate in the newly constituted Parliament and taken her oath.

With her re-election, the Ukrainian community in Hungary is choosing continuity: over the past four years, Grexa has represented the interests of the Ukrainian minority in Parliament, with a particular focus on education, culture and religious life. Among other things, her work has aimed to create better opportunities for Ukrainian children to learn their mother tongue, to strengthen community life and to give the Ukrainian minority in Hungary greater visibility.

The younger generation has also played an important role in her work. Through formats such as the youth summit #NOVAdays, Grexa brought Ukrainian and Hungarian young people together and created space for exchange, encounter and shared learning.

After taking up her mandate, Grexa made clear that she intends to continue on her chosen path: “My goal remains unchanged: I will continue to work tirelessly to advance our education, strengthen our faith, and preserve the richness of Ukrainian culture in Hungary. We must create conditions where every child can learn in their native language, and every Ukrainian feels spiritual support and pride in their heritage”, Liliána Grexa stated.

Her re-election is also significant for the AGSM. At Liliána Grexa’s initiative, the National Self-Government of Ukrainians in Hungary (OUNÖ) applied for membership of FUEN last year. At the FUEN Congress 2025, OUNÖ was subsequently admitted to the FUEN family as an associate member. She also expressed her willingness to host the annual AGSM seminar in Hungary in 2027.

The AGSM in FUEN warmly congratulates Liliána Grexa on her re-election and wishes her every success in her work for the Ukrainian minority in Hungary during the new legislative period.
