AGSM congratulates Bjarnat Cyž on the Federal Cross of Merit
23.11.2021
The AGSM warmly congratulates our long-time speaker and former FUEN Vice-President Bernhard Ziesch (Bjarnat Cyž), Lausitzer Sorbe, on the Federal Cross of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany. Bernhard Ziesch was one of the co-founders of the Slavic Working Group within FUEN in 1996, and since its founding until 2019 the spokesman for the AGSM. From 1992 to 2016 he was managing director of the umbrella association of the Lusatian Sorbs - Domowina, FUEN vice-president from 2013-2019 and since 2014 a member of the minority council in Germany.
Congratulations luby Bjarnat!
As it emerges from a press release of Domowina:
Judith Scholze (Judit Šołćina), Head of the Minority Secretariat https://www.minderheitensekretariat.de and designated Domowina Managing Director:
“Bernhard Ziesch was never just a “sorbian”: His full-time and voluntary commitment forms a whole that has shaped life over the decades. The voice of Bernhard Ziesch has a variety of meaning: as a speaker, conversation partner and singer. He has enriched entire congresses politically and culturally.
The joint award with the Sater Frisian Karl-Peter Schramm is a particularly beautiful sign of Bernhard Ziesch's unwavering commitment to reliable cooperation and trustworthy coexistence among the national minorities. We are pleased that Bernhard Ziesch is still available to us with his wealth of experience, for example as an honorary member of the Minority Council and in future again as a representative of the Sorbian people in the MDR Broadcasting Council.
We appreciate and appreciate Bernhard Ziesch as a distinguished messenger of the Sorbian people near and far. With his keen mind, he has often enough helped those who did not agree with his position in discussions to deepen their thoughts. The Federal Minister of the Interior honors a Sorbian democrat who has left his mark in recent German-Sorbian history. "
