EUROPEADA 2024: Friúl and Südtirol are the champions, Bronze for Carinthian Slovenes

The real winners of this event are the minorities – as FUEN Vice President Bahne Bahnsen put it at the awards ceremony following the women’s and the men’s finals of EUROPEADA 2024 in Flensburg on Saturday, 6 July. But there were also winners on the football field, as Südtirol scored an astounding 11 goals to the one of Nordfraschlönj in the final of the women’s tournament, and, in a heated match, Friúl overcame Occitánia by two goals to none in the men’s final. Slavic minorities were once again at the forefront with a bronze medal for Team Koroška.

We mourn the loss of Ilse Johanna Christiansen

It is with great dismay and deep sorrow that we bid farewell to our dear friend and companion Ilse Johanna Christiansen, who passed away on 15 May 2024. As a member of the Frisian ethnic group in Germany, Ilse Johanna was an indispensable part of the FUEN family for decades, a hands-on optimist who worked tirelessly for the interests of minorities in Europe. Her untimely and unexpected death is a bitter loss for us all.

The Macedonian Association "Ilinden"-Tirana Marks Nine Years as a Full Member of the FUEN

Nine years ago, the Macedonian Association "Ilinden"-Tirana was admitted into the Federal Union of European Nationalities (FUEN), which is the largest minority organization in Europe. Slovenska Skupnost - SSk party of the Slovenian minority in Italy runs in EU elections on the SVP list
