From existential hardship to the right to minority education - AGSM annual meeting in Zagreb reveals serious contrasts

The conference took place from 19 to 22 October. A total of 50 people took part, 14 of them from the host Serbian minority in Croatia and 36 external participants from other minorities - e.g. Molise Croats from Italy, Sorbs from Germany and Pomaks from Greece. They covered a pleasingly broad spectrum of countries and minorities: 13 different minorities from 12 countries were represented.

New Macedonian translation of the AGSM Brochure - Новo македонски превод на брошурата АГСМ

The AGSM brochure was translated into Macedonian in 2023 and, for the first time, into a Cyrillic script. With the diligent help of our member organization Ilinden Tirana, the translation was made possible. You can read it here.

This year's AGSM seminar will take place in Zagreb, Croatia, from 19 to 22 October, the FUEN Working Group of Slavic Minorities (AGSM) will meet in the Croatian capital for its 26th annual seminar. The host of the seminar is the Serbian minority in Croatia.

Carinthian Slovenes presented their issues in the European Parliament

Representatives of the Enotna Lista (EL) and the National Council of Carinthian Slovenes (NSKS) informed the members of the Intergroup of the European Parliament on Traditional Minorities, National Communities and Languages about the situation in Carinthia on Thursday 11 May in Strasbourg and also met with FUEN President and MEP Loránt Vincze.

n der Alten Chemiefabrik in Cottbus/Chóśebuz trafen sich am 22. April 112 Delegierte aus der Ober-, Mittel- und Niederlausitz. Der Oberbürgermeister von Cottbus/Chóśebuz, Tobias Schick, begrüßte die Delegierten. Er hob hervor, dass die Pflege der sorbischen Traditionen wichtig für die Stärkung der Identität ist. Die anwesenden Jugendlichen forderte er auf, mitzuwirken und sich in sorbischen Kreisen zu engagieren. Die Präsidentin des Brandenburgischen Landtags, Prof. Dr. Ulrike Liedtke, äußerte in ihrer Begrüßung, dass Vielfalt und Toleranz ein wichtiger Teil Brandenburgs sind.

Initiative für bilinguale Erziehung und Bildung in Wien / Beč

Am Freitag, 14. April 2023, wurde im Kroatischen Zentrum in Wien die „Initiative für zweisprachige Bildung in Wien“ gegründet mit dem Ziel, schnellstmöglich einen Verein zur Umsetzung eines zweisprachigen /kroatisch-deutschen/ Bildungssystems zu gründen. Dazu gehört die Ausbildung der Kinder vom Kindergarten bis zum Schulabschluss in Wien.

Regionalwahl in Friaul-Julisch Venetien: Slowenen bekommen einen Abgeordneten

Bei den Regionalwahlen in Friaul-Julisch Venetien wurde der Mitte-Rechts-Kandidat Massimiliano Fedriga für eine neue Amtszeit zum Präsidenten gewählt. Der Primorski dnevnik berichtete, dass laut den inoffiziellen Wahlergebnissen der Kandidat der Partei Slowenische Gemeinschaft (SSk), Marko Pisani, in das Regionalparlament gewählt wurde.
